Jonathan started volunteering with The Mississauga Food Bank in January 2020 in both our Finance Department and as a Food Sorting Leader in our warehouse.
Very soon, he was invited to participate in the FB2H (Home Delivery) program as a coordinator and he accepted this role. He has made a tremendous impact on this program. Not only does Jonathan provide stellar customer service to clients, but he also takes the time to listen to their concerns and offers support for anything clients may need. Client phone calls may take a lot of his time but he takes each call with calmness and patience. As well, as a volunteer coordinator, he has handled all the changes this program has gone through, with such grace, demonstrating himself to be flexible and highly reliable.
“I know I have been abundantly blessed in my life, and I have learned to be thankful for the blessings I have received. The best way for me to express that thankfulness is in service to others who may be less fortunate or have fallen on hard times. That is why I volunteer: to pay in some measure for the bounties I have received, and what I have found is that this service gives me great content. It also gives me a sense of purpose and a feeling that I am contributing to my community. I believe I get far more out of volunteering than I put in.”
Jonathan
No matter what happens, we know Jonathan will be here. Jonathan’s ability to communicate and work with an ever-changing and diverse team is superb. When COVID-19 had picked up in the early stages, Jonathan continued volunteering 3 days a week during the pandemic as per usual. Jonathan is always willing to help out where ever there is a need. For example, Jonathan has offered to work on the evacuation plan posters for our facility.
TMFB is certainly so fortunate to count on such a skillful and stellar volunteer!
