On October 26, 2023, Feed Ontario hosted Feeding Solutions: A Discussion on Food Insecurity in Ontario.
The event, attended by donors and partners, featured four expert panelists including:
Talia Bronstein, Vice President of Research and Advocacy at Daily Bread Food Bank
Trevor Manson, an ODSP advocate and Co-Chair of the ODSP Action Coalition.
Douglas Kwan, Director of Advocacy and Legal services at the Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario (ACTO).
This panel discussion highlighted the contributing factors to why so many people in Ontario are struggling to get ahead and why it is harder to escape poverty today than it was 30 years ago. Panelists also spoke to the challenges that food banks face in keeping up with demand, and highlighted the need for improvements to Ontario’s social assistance programs and the need to make housing more affordable.
