CFO Cares Ontario Chicken Program

Thanks to the Chicken Farmers of Ontario, the CFO Cares Food Bank Donation Program has delivered over 12.5 million fresh chicken meals to food banks across the province to support adults, children, and families in need.

About the program

The CFO Cares Food Bank Donation Program was created to ensure that family-farmed, high-quality Ontario chicken gets onto the plates of those who need it most.

Launched in 2015 in partnership with the Chicken Farmers of Ontario, this program provides chicken farmers across the province the opportunity to donate up to 300 chickens each year to help ensure food bank fridges remain stocked.

This program delivers over 1 million fresh chicken meals to community food banks across the province each year.

"Our clients’ incomes are spent on rent and utilities first. After those bills are paid, there may be limited or no funds remaining to purchase food. Fresh proteins and produce are expensive and our clients choose less food items in order to stretch their dollars further. Our organization is thrilled to be a part of this program and recognize the CFO donors as they have provided our clients with a protein item that normally they would not be able to afford."
