Earlier this week the Government of Ontario announced changes to the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP). The ODSP earned income exemption increase will expand monthly earning exemptions from $200 to $1,000 per month. Until now, ODSP benefits were reduced by 50 cents for each dollar earned over $200.
Increasing the ODSP earned income exemption is a strong step in the right direction for many people, allowing those who are able to work a better opportunity to maintain a basic standard of living.
Unfortunately, most people who rely on ODSP are unable to work and therefore, Feed Ontario urges the Government of Ontario to continue in this positive direction by doubling ODSP so that people who are living with a disability can afford the basic necessities that support their health, well-being, and ability to participate in their communities.
