Feed Change

Food insecurity is a complex challenge that can only be ended by  public policies that address poverty at its roots to make sure no one in Ontario gets left behind.

Feed Ontario collects real-time data to inform evidence-based solutions that will help those hurt most by hunger in our province.

Addressing the root causes of poverty

At Feed Ontario, we know hunger doesn’t exist in isolation—today’s record-high level of food bank use is being caused by the affordability crisis. The rising costs of basic needs like rent and groceries have all climbed significantly in recent years, and wages and income supports simply haven’t kept up.

Families that were once “just getting by” are now “barely holding on,” which has left more Ontarians than ever before with no choice but to turn to food banks for help.

We believe ending hunger in our province is possible. To do this, we’re working hard to tackle the interconnected issues that are pushing more people into poverty.

We make data on food insecurity accessible to everyone, conduct research that highlights the realities Ontarians face, and develop informed policy recommendations that target the root causes of poverty. By advocating for change with policymakers and building capacity within communities and the food bank network, we’re working toward a stronger, more resilient, hunger-free Ontario.
