At a time when the rising cost of living is affecting nearly every household across Ontario, Feed Ontario’s donors have showed what generosity truly looks like by stepping up to support their neighbours when it matters most.
Our donors have helped us provide people and families facing hunger with over 2 million meals in the last year through onetime donations, monthly contributions, legacy gifts, employee campaigns, and community fundraising initiatives.
We’re incredibly grateful to our supporters from across the province, who have helped make sure people and families in need had access to food and support – and we asked them why they chose to contribute to our work to end hunger. What we heard in response moved us deeply.
“…Reducing hardship has true value and meaning, in so many ways. Feed Ontario is doing a good job helping out in these hard times.”
As the cost of living continues to rise and incomes aren’t keeping pace, more and more people and families are struggling to get by. Over 1 million people turned to a food bank in the last year, and to meet the growing need we’ve taken action by providing more food to food banks than ever before, building stronger partnerships and creating innovative programs, and investing in our network’s capacity.
What this really means is that food bank shelves have stayed stocked and programs that help food banks meet their community’s needs continue running, even as more people turn to them for support.

“…Feed Ontario directly and indirectly helps other organizations provide food to those in need locally, calls attention to hunger, advocates for food security, and improves the effectiveness of local food banks.”
We’re working to make sure people across Ontario have access to the food and support they need, but an important part of our work is advocating for meaningful change that will end the need for food banks in the long term.
We know that hunger is a problem that can’t be solved overnight, but by sharing evidence-based solutions that will address the root causes of hunger with our elected representatives, we’re working hard to make that future possible.

“…I consider the work of Feed Ontario (unfortunately) to be more and more vital with each year that passes.”
Even as the dedication of donors, partners, and community members across the province helps us make strides, the need for food banks in Ontario continues to grow. People facing hunger across the province need more support than before, accessing food bank services more often than in previous years just to get by – stretching the resources our network has available to the limit.
Every donation makes an impact
When every $1 provides 2 meals to someone facing hunger in our communities, donations of any size make an incredible impact.
Our supporters make our work possible, and across the province countless individuals have also given their time, raised awareness, and advocated for change to help people facing hunger. Every action, no matter the size, means more food can be shared with those in need, more supports can be provided, and more innovative solutions can be found.
