Over the last 35 years, food banks have evolved from traditional food cupboards into multi-service agencies for community building and change. Our new brand, Feed Ontario, is a reflection of this transformation, and of the collective action of our network of food banks and partners.

Together, we work to provide food that nourishes communities today, while creating opportunity and change that will one day end hunger and poverty.

We have grown…

The Ontario Association of Food Banks was founded in 1992 by 12 food banks that shared a single goal: to develop an Ontario-wide network to share food, resources, and solutions to address hunger in our province.

More than 25 years later, our network has grown from twelve food banks, to more than 1,200 direct and affiliate hunger-relief agencies working together to end hunger and poverty in Ontario.

And they’re not working alone. Alongside our members, there have been innumerable partners, donors, and volunteers that have united together to feed Ontario and create a future where no one in our province goes hungry.

At the same time, food banks themselves have changed. In addition to emergency food support, food banks in the network provide innovative programs and services, like resume writing workshops and job fairs, child care and dental clinics, accredited training programs, community gardens, and specialized programming for children, adults, and seniors.

…and our new brand reflects this growth

Our new brand, Feed Ontario, is a reflection of this growth, transformation, and the collective action of our network of food banks and partners. It represents the vision that unites us as well as the work we do together to achieve that vision.

It is also a call to action.

We’re inviting other individuals and organizations who share our passion to join us as we feed Ontario together.
